This data repository contains the research data from the study: Developing a Digital Medication Adherence Intervention for and With Patients With Asthma and Low Health Literacy: Protocol for a Participatory Design Approach, which was carried out from February to September 2019.
The data collected in this study served to inform the development process of the eHealth intervention and generate insight into the value of the used participatory methods. The collection and analysis were structured around five stages of design thinking: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test, spanning two major iterative cycles. Specifically, it incorporated three participatory design activities suitable for individuals with low health literacy (LHL): co-constructing stories, experience prototype exhibition, and video prototype evaluation. The data set is organized into four phases, each containing various materials: Phase 1 includes the setup and insights from co-constructing stories, along with scenarios, story elements, and personas. Phase 2 features a "matrix of change" synthesizing previous findings. Phase 3 offers consent forms and interview questions, alongside visual concept presenters for the prototype exhibition. Finally, Phase 4 provides insights and materials from the video prototype evaluation, including interview questions, insights documentation, and interface screens for the video prototype.
The study protocol was cleared by the Ethical Committee of the Leiden University Medical Centre (approval number: P18.158).
