Dataset

This research database supplements the Ph.D. Thesis 'Fatigue after impact behavior of carbon fiber reinforced plastics'.

This repository contains experimental data collected during compression fatigue after impact (CFAI) tests on carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP). Digital image correlation, periodic ultrasound inspection, and acoustic emission monitoring were applied during the tests.

In addition to the CFAI tests, the results of fatigue tests conducted on surrogate impact damage (created using PTFE inserts ) are presented in the database.

In the thesis linked to this database, a preliminary analysis based on strain energy release rate profiles was conducted to evaluate the most probable starting points of delamination propagation in fatigue after impact. This was done by virtual crack closure technique (VCCT) analysis with

suppressed propagation on Abaqus cae. The numerical results are presented in the respective folder of this database.

Dataset Structure:

The database is organized into three main folders:

1. (/CFAI_tests)

This folder contains experimental data collected from compression after impact fatigue tests. The data includes measurements, observations, and relevant documentation for each test.

2. (/PTFE_surrogates_tests)

This folder contains data from experiments conducted on surrogates to simulate fatigue after impact using PTFE inserts. The data includes experimental setups, test results, and analysis.

3. (/Numerical_results)

This folder contains numerical simulations and corresponding results from computational models related to PTFE_surrogates_tests.

How to Use:

To access the data and files in this repository, navigate to the respective folders and explore the contents. Each folder contains a README file providing information about the data and files contained within.
