phlb = parasitoid host location behaviour
This read me file was made for the choice experiment "experiment 1" as described in:

Croijmans, L., Valstar, R. T., Schuur, L., Jacobs, I., van Apeldoorn, D. F., & Poelman, E. H. (2022).
Intraspecific plant variation and nonhost herbivores affect parasitoid host location behaviour. Animal Behaviour, 194, 169-184.

For a full explanation of the methods, see above paper.

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN
In this experiment, we used a two-choice design within a wind-tunnel (200 x 60 x 60 cm)
to assess differences in attraction to rows of four plants by the parasitoid Cotesia glomerata to its host Pieris brassicae.
The rows differed in the number and position of the more attractive Christmas Drumhead (C) and less attractive Rivera (R) cultivars,
including the cultivar of the most upwind plant that was infested by 10 larvae of the host (H) herbivore (P. brassicae).

We tested 7 different row combinations:
1. A0: RRRCH vs RRRRH --> First three plants were Rivera on both sides, last plant was either Christmas Drumhead or Rivera.
2. A1: RRRCH vs CRRRH, RCRRH, RRCRH --> On the side were Rivera was the last plant, one of the first three Rivera plants was changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.
3. A2: RRRCH vs CCRRH, RCCRH --> On the side were Rivera was the last plant, two of the first three Rivera plants were changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.
4. A3: RRRCH vs CCCRH --> On the side were Rivera was the last plant, all of the first three Rivera plants were changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.

B1-B3 --> Last plants on both sides was Rivera.
5. B1: RRRRH vs CRRRH, RCRRH, RRCRH	--> On one side, one of the first three Rivera plants was changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.
6. B2: RRRRH vs CCRRH, RCCRH --> On one side, two of the first three Rivera plants were changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.
7. B3: RRRRH vs CCCRH --> On one side, all of the first three Rivera plants were changed for a Christmas Drumhead plant.

MEASUREMENTS
Parasitoid choices for each row were monitored by visual observation. After initiating upwind flight, a parasitoid was
considered to have made a choice for a row once it landed on one of the plants in a row and stayed on that plant for more than 15 s.
When the parasitoid remained in the glass cylinder or on one of the sides of the wind
tunnel for over 5 min, the parasitoidwas considered nonresponsive and the observation was terminated.

RAW DATA
Data in csv file is semicolon delimited.

Colums have the following definition:

Day = Date of measurements in DD-MM-YYYY format.
Observer = Person that made the observations (these were all co-authors: Reinier = Reinier Valstar, Isabelle = Isabelle Jacobs, Luuk = Luuk Croijmans)
WaspFrom = Approximate date of pupation, this was the date that Cotesia glomerata pupae were taken from the rearing.
WaspAge = Approximate number of days between wasp emergence from the pupae and experimental use.
Plantage = Approximate number of weeks between sowing of plants and experimental use.
Temp = Temperature within the wind tunnel
RHlower = Relative humidity (%) as measured by first device, that gave lower estimates
RHupper = Relative humidity (%) as measured by second device, that gave higher estimates
TimeCat = Time of the day when measurement was initiated, rounded to minutes.
Time = Time of the day when measurement was initiated, rounded to seconds.
TrCode = Treatment code belonging to row combinations as mentioned above.
PlantPos = Position of the changed Christmas Drumhead plants among the first three plants.
				For A1 and B1: 1 = CRRRH; 2 = RCRRH; 3 = RRCRH
				For A2 and B2: 1 = CCRRH; 2 = RCCRH
Orientation = Orientation of plant rows within the wind tunnel.
Normal = from perspective of parasitoid left and right fit treatments as mentioned above
Switched = from perspective of parasitoid left and right are reversed compared to treatments as mentioned above
TimeLeavingVial = Number of seconds until parasitoid left vial, rounded to seconds.
Response = Binary variable, whether parasitoid left the vial within 5 minutes (1 = yes, 0 = no)
TimeStartFlight = Number of seconds until parasitoid initiated flight, rounded to seconds.

TimeChoice1 = Number of seconds until choice for a row was made by the parasitoid, rounded to seconds.
InitialPlantChoice = Exact plant that was chosen by the parasitoid.
Letter indicates side of the wind tunnel from the perspecitive of the parsitoid (L = Left, R = Right).
Number indicates the plant from front to back, from the perspective of the parasitoid.
RorL = Which side of the wind tunnel was chosen by the parasitoid (L = Left, R = Right).
InitialRowChoice	= Code responding to the row that was chosen by the parasitoid, see meaning of codes above.
DirectFlight = Binary variable, whether parasitoid made the chose without briefly landing on other plants (1) or whether parasitoid before making the choice also landed on other plants (0).
Oviposition = Binary variable, whether parasitoid parasitized caterpillars before termination of the measurement (1 = parasitization happened, 0 = no parasitization).
