This data covers the work "Local re-immersion behaviour of Ce-based inhibiting layers on AA2024-T3 intermetallics: Enhanced stability through partial dealloying and prolonged exposure"
This work examines how corrosion inhibition at the intermetallic particle level evolves after an initial immersion in a Ce(III)-containing environment, followed by re-immersion in a Ce(III)-free environment. The immersion environment consists of 0.05 M NaCl combined with 0.001 M Ce(NO3)3. Depending on the immersion condition, the duration of exposure ranges from 3 to 72 hours and the inhibitor can be supplied either at the start of immersion (0 s) or at a delay of 30 s. The re-immersion environment consists of only 0.05 M NaCl. Additional details of the experimental conditions are available in the readme file. The immersion and re-immersion behaviour were experimentally monitored through in situ reflected light microscopy. This dataset comprises the pre-processed microscopy images obtained during immersion and re-immersion. Supplementary SEM images aligned with the microscopy images are also provided for the tests with 3 hour immersion duration and no inhibitor supply delay.
