Data files underlying publication soon to be published in the Journal of Maritime Technology (JMET). The research objective of this study was to analyze the salt content (Na+, Cl- and K+ ions) as well as the VOC content (52 types including naphthalene, toluene and benzene) of engine room air of a sea-going vessel. Air was sampled both on the ship deck and inside the engine room of a vessel from Van Dam shipping. Samples were taken in different weather conditions (varying precipitation, wind speed) and analyzed with help of TNO.

Data types include:

(i) raw data of the air salt filters and VOC air samples (by TNO);

(ii) logging data of the ship position, date, time, fuel oil consumption and wind speed (by Van Dam Shipping and Marin);

(iii) notes taken by the shipper during sampling (by Van Dam shipper);

(iv) Excel files combining relevant data of shipper notes and raw TNO data (to feed Matlab analysis);

(v) Matlab code to analyze the data;
