%X <p>This dataset contains supplementary data to a journal paper entitled: 'A mesoscopic model for inter-yarn friction'.&nbsp;Three pairs of yarn-yarn contact: T300J-T300J, IM7-T300J, and Eglass-T300J were performed using a CERT-UMT machine at the University of Twente. The experiments were performed to investigate the influences of the inter-yarn angle and normal force on the friction behavior of the yarns. In this experiment, the dry and wet conditions were tested.&nbsp;Inversely determined capillary forces are exported. The scripts used to fit the proposed model to the experimental data of&nbsp;the capillary force are included. The raw friction data and the dynamic coefficient of friction are provided.&nbsp;An anisotropic friction model was developed to accurately represent the interplay of inter-yarn angle, normal force, and capillary effects observed in the experiments. This friction model is well-suited for mesoscale simulations, such as overbraiding simulations.</p>
