This dataset accompanies the publication in Urban Geography (Taylor & Francis) and contains data collected through ethnographic field research in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The research explores how self-organized, informal circular practices operate in the city. All data have been anonymized.
The study focused on three components:
- Itinerant waste collectors – Shadowing and mapping their routes (GPX), interviews, Photo Voice, and field observations.
- Minalesh Tera informal recycling center – Participatory mapping, interviews, and observations.
- Urban resource flows – Simulations of how resources circulate through the city.
