This dataset accompanies the study ‘Earth Observations-Informed Modelling for the Design of Nature-Based Climate Adaptation Strategies’ and contains outputs from the MIKE SHE distributed hydrological model of a transboundary catchment Aa of Weerijs, situated between Belgium and the Netherlands. The data is organized into three main components based on the objectives of the study:

1) Precipitation Dataset Evaluation: The purpose was to evaluate the impact of different Earth Observation precipitation products on modelled discharge and groundwater levels and to formulate the framework to identify the best suitable precipitation product for hydrological simulations. The precipitation datasets used were 1) ERA5 land, 2) MSWEP, 3) IMERG Final and 4) EOBS. The simulated discharge time series at three locations and groundwater levels at 13 locations are compared and data is provided in folder ‘Precipitation_datasets_evaluation’.

2) Climate and Land Use Change Impact Analysis: The purpose was to analyse the individual and combined effect of climate and land use change on actual evapotranspiration, soil moisture, discharge and groundwater levels of the catchment. The results are provided in the folder ‘Climate_change_and_landuse_change_analysis’.

3) Nature based climate adaptation strategies: The purpose was to evaluate the effect of six different nature-based solutions (NBS) on discharge and groundwater levels. Further, two different nature based adaptive strategies were formulated and their impact on the discharge and groundwater levels were assessed. The data is provided in the folder ‘NBS_strategies’
