With time-resolved X-ray densitometry and pressure measurements at multiple axial locations, we study the characteristics of bubbly shock fronts in a cavitating axisymmetric venturi at different cavitation numbers (sigma). The main aim of this work was to examine why the vapour shedding mechanism changes from bubbly shock wave dominated to re-entrant jet driven with increasing sigma. Time-resolved vapour fraction fields of a single shedding cycle at sigma = 0.47 are also included. The full details of the study can be found in the underlying publication. The dataset can be used to validate numerical models aimed at simulating complex multiphase flows.
