Dataset

This dataset contains the data underlying the paper: "Mapping the Market Potential for Air–Rail Integration on Substitutable Routes across Europe". The data is published to substantiate the results of the paper and to be used by other researchers in their own work. The paper proposes a simple and interpretable indicator to quantify the market potential for air-rail integration on substitutable routes, where air and rail are concurrently available, across European airports. The data made available in this repository includes an overview of railway station availability at European airports, and some indicators based on passenger flows, air travel times and travel times of rail alternatives, aggregated due to the limitations agreed with the data provider. The data has been collected by the author either manually or through web scraping from multiple sources, including individual airport websites, Google Maps, OAG (both Schedules and Traffic), Rome2Rio and Signal.eu.org. More information is available in the README.txt file and the paper.
