Dataset
This dataset supports the study “Reduced prevalence of phage defense systems in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains from cystic fibrosis patients” and contains data investigating the relationship between host-associated environments and bacterial antiviral defenses. The research objective was to compare the abundance and diversity of phage defense systems in P. aeruginosa isolates from cystic fibrosis (CF) patients versus environmental strains, in order to assess how long-term adaptation to the CF lung environment influences bacterial immunity. Data were collected through comparative genomics, and computational identification of defense system genes, complemented by experimental assays of phage susceptibility. The dataset includes defense system presence, phenotypes, and source information of each included strain in the analyses.
