Alkenones and planktonic foraminifera oxygen isotope, Mg/Ca data from PASOM3
doi: 10.4121/17014052
Here, we present results from a sediment core recovered from the central northern Arabian Sea. The region is currently under the influence of monsoon-induced upwelling and the associated development of an oxygen minimum zone. The sediment core PASOM 3 was retrieved from the Murray ridge in January 2009, from 1172 meters below the sea surface (mbss) depth (22°19.9’N and 63°36.0’E) during PASOM expedition 64PE301, with the R/V Pelagia.
This dataset presents core depths (in cm), corresponding calibrated ages expressed as cal kyr BP, oxygen isotopic composition, and Mg/Ca ratio measured on planktonic foraminifera G. ruber together with alkenone paleothermometer UK37 index. It also includes the calculated sea surface temperature (SSTs) based on calibrations from Anand et al (2003) for Mg/Ca and Muller (1998) for UK37. The dataset covers the last 35 kyr.
