The Yangtze River is one of the most important rivers in China with the longest hydrological observations. As changes in runoff at the Cuntan station in the upper Yangtze directly influence the water supply of the Three Gorges Project, establishing a long-term runoff series at the Cuntan can support the water management strategies of the Yangtze. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to simulate river discharge of the Yangtze for a period longer than 400 years. We simulated the daily discharge at the Cuntan station in the upper Yangtze from 1861 - 2299 using multiple hydrological models driven by multiple GCM outputs from the ISIMIP project. A comparison of the simulated discharges under the preindustrial control scenario and the anthropogenic climate change scenario could be used to detect the influence of human induced climate change on discharge in the East Asia monsoon region.
